Why it matters

Davao Global Township sits on what used to be the Davao Golf Club in Matina, along McArthur Highway. The 22 hectare estate is being developed by Cebu Landmasters and YHEST Realty into a mixed use township, but most people come now for the Weekend Market, which runs Thursday to Sunday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM with more than 50 food and craft vendors spread across the open roads. By 7:30 PM on Saturdays, the City Center area is already packed. What makes DGT worth visiting now, before the whole township is finished, is that it already works as a real public gathering place. The roads are wide, the lighting is good, and on a Saturday night it feels like a busy town square even while construction is still going on around it.

What DGT Is and When to Go

DGT is still being built. The residential towers, commercial buildings, and cultural center are not all finished yet. What draws people now is the Weekend Market and the wide open roads. These work on their own regardless of where construction is at. When you visit, some areas may be fenced off depending on which phase is ongoing, so the walkable zone shifts a bit from visit to visit.

The Weekend Market

Most of the market activity happens along the road loop near the City Center, and on busy Saturdays it spills into the side lanes too. Food makes up most of the stalls, from ready to eat meals to grilled items, desserts, and drinks, with a few craft and lifestyle sellers mixed in. The crowd usually peaks around 7:30 PM and starts thinning out after 9:30 PM. Stall lineups change week to week, so if you are going specifically for Rancheros Lechon Baka or Mia-kii, it is worth checking the DGT social pages to confirm they are there that week.

How to Get There

DGT sits along McArthur Highway in Matina, about 10 to 15 minutes from downtown Davao by taxi or Grab. It is close to the Ecoland and Matina commercial area so most people in that part of the city can reach it without much trouble. Parking inside the estate exists but fills up fast on weekends. If you are driving on a Saturday, arriving by 5:30 PM gives you a better chance of getting a spot.

Best Time to Visit

The market is open Thursday through Sunday from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Saturday evenings get the biggest crowd and the most energy. Thursday and Friday evenings are still lively but less packed, which is better if you want to focus on the food without navigating the full Saturday rush. Weekday evenings outside those market days are quiet.

What DGT is known for

The Cultural Center inside the estate holds live music nights, community programs, and small event launches through the year. In 2026, more local businesses and pop up brands have started using DGT for launches and market activations. The wide open lanes come from the old golf club footprint, which is part of why the market fits so many vendors and still feels spacious to walk through.

Local context

Local details to know

Some stalls come back every week in 2026, including Rancheros Lechon Baka for slow roasted beef, Pasugba Torres for grilled meats, and Mia-kii for Japanese frozen yogurt. Other vendors change from week to week, with local food brands, artisan sellers, and cold drink stalls filling the road lanes.

The roads inside DGT are wide and paved, and during market hours some sections are closed to vehicles, which makes it easy to walk around or jog through. A lot of people also bring their dogs on late afternoon runs here.

The road layout handles a big crowd well, which is one reason the market has grown to the size it has even before the full township is done. The cultural pavilion hosts art exhibits, seasonal performances, and product launches for homegrown brands, drawing regular weekend visitors.
