Police Hunt Gunmen Who Killed NDBC Technician Dennis Pido

Two motorcycle-riding assailants fatally shot longtime Notre Dame Broadcasting Corporation technician Dennis Pido while he was traveling to work on July 14. Police have not announced a motive, and the Catholic-run network is asking for a swift and impartial investigation.

What police have established

Pido was riding a motorcycle toward Cotabato City for his shift when two men on another motorcycle followed him along the Cotabato to Davao highway in Barangay Limbo, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte. Police placed the shooting between 3:40 and 3:50 p.m. on July 14.

Emergency responders brought him to the Cotabato Sanitarium and General Hospital, where he was declared dead. Investigators recovered evidence at the scene and began a search for the assailants. No suspect or motive had been publicly identified in the reports reviewed for this article.

More than three decades behind the broadcast

Pido, 56, worked for the Notre Dame Broadcasting Corporation for more than 30 years. His technical duties supported DXMS-AM and DXOL-FM, two Catholic-run stations serving Cotabato City and nearby Bangsamoro communities.

Technicians are rarely the public voice of a station, but broadcasts depend on their work to keep studios, transmitters, and field equipment running. NDBC described Pido as a longtime colleague and called on authorities to establish who killed him and why.

What remains unanswered

Police said a province-wide manhunt was underway. The available accounts describe the attack and the direction in which the gunmen fled, but they do not establish whether Pido was targeted because of his job or for another reason.

That distinction should remain open until investigators release evidence. Treating an unconfirmed motive as fact would risk misleading readers and could complicate a case that is still active.
